This is seen in the unfolding spiral of a shell, the budding symmetry of a flower, and an empty cornucopia; all of which can be reminiscent of human life itself. These themes are carefully shaped and contrasted in the sculpture to allow the viewer to experience surprise as distinctly different patterns gradually reveal themselves to the understanding. “Unfoldment” has no two views the same and there really isn’t a “front or a “back”. For that matter, there really isn’t a “side” either! It all depends on ones favorite view of the work.
